Commercial Loading Docks, Equipment & Dumpster Pads in Atlanta, GA

Atlanta Concrete Services builds and repairs the concrete that takes the hardest abuse on a commercial property: loading docks, dock leveler pits, truck courts and aprons, equipment and transformer pads, and dumpster and compactor pads. We pour these for warehouses, grocery and retail stores, restaurants, hospitals, schools and apartment communities.

Metro Atlanta is one of the Southeast's biggest freight hubs, with distribution buildings lining I-75, I-85, I-20 and I-285 and clustered around Hartsfield-Jackson and along Fulton Industrial Boulevard. That means a lot of tractor-trailers backing into a lot of docks. Recessed truck wells here also collect water fast in summer thunderstorms, and the steel-wheeled front-load garbage trucks that service dumpster pads break up thin asphalt in short order.

From Fulton Industrial and College Park up to Kennesaw, Marietta, Duluth and Johns Creek, and across to Tucker, Stone Mountain, East Point and Smyrna, we pour dock and pad work throughout the region & more.

Why Choose Atlanta Concrete Services

Dock & Pad Services

Loading Dock Construction in Atlanta, GA

Loading Dock Construction

Drivers struggling to line up with a dock, or a dock edge crumbling under forklift wheels, slow down every shipment. We build dock walls, aprons and dock-height slabs to plan, with steel edge angles, embedded bumper anchors and properly reinforced transitions from building floor to truck bed.

We coordinate with the dock equipment installer so leveler pits, seals and restraints fit the first time.

Truck Wells & Trench Drains in Atlanta, GA

Truck Wells & Trench Drains

A recessed dock that turns into a pond after a storm can flood the building and stall deliveries. We grade truck wells to trench drains sized on the civil plans and tie them to the storm system, keeping water off the dock face.

We also look for clogged or undersized drains on existing docks and rebuild them. A trash guard and a cleanout access point make it easy for your maintenance staff to keep the drain flowing between storms.

Transformer & Equipment Pads in Atlanta, GA

Transformer & Equipment Pads

Generators, chillers and transformers that settle or tip are expensive to reset. We pour reinforced pads to the equipment maker's and the engineer's specs, and for utility transformers we build to Georgia Power's or the serving utility's pad requirements.

Conduit sleeves and anchor bolts are set before the pour so the electrician is not coring later.

Dumpster & Compactor Pads in Atlanta, GA

Dumpster & Compactor Pads

Broken asphalt and potholes in front of the dumpster are a common sight behind Atlanta restaurants and shopping centers. We pour thick, reinforced concrete pads that extend out to where the garbage truck's front wheels land, plus enclosure footings for screening walls and gates.

Compactor pads get thickened slabs and embedded anchors for the unit and container rails. We slope every pad to a drain or open edge so wash water and grease do not pool and run toward the building.

Truck Courts & Aprons in Atlanta, GA

Truck Courts & Aprons

Rutted asphalt in front of the docks wears trailers and makes the yard hard to sweep and drain. We pour concrete truck courts and dock aprons with heavy-duty slabs and joints laid out for trailer wheel paths and landing gear.

Many of these tie into new commercial parking lots and drives on the same site.

Dock & Pad Repair in Atlanta, GA

Dock & Pad Repair

Spalled dock edges, cracked leveler pits and sinking pads create hazards for forklifts and staff. We cut out damaged concrete, replace edge angles, rebuild pit walls and pour new sections, often working nights or weekends.

When the slab beneath is sound but the surface is worn, a repair mortar or overlay can buy years of service.

How We Build Docks & Pads

Review & Bid

We review plans, equipment cut sheets and site conditions, then send a written bid with scope and schedule. We quote commercial work from plans and a site visit rather than a per-foot price.

Locates & Subgrade

Georgia 811 locates come first, then excavation and subgrade correction for the heavy loads ahead. Soft Piedmont clay is removed and replaced with compacted stone where needed.

Forms, Steel & Embeds

We set forms, reinforcement, edge angles, anchor bolts and conduit sleeves to plan. Inspectors check before concrete is ordered.

Pour, Cure & Return to Service

We pour heavy-duty mixes, finish for traction and cure to spec. Trucks return once the slab reaches the strength the engineer calls for.

Loading Dock & Pad FAQs

How much does a loading dock or dumpster pad cost?

We price commercial work from plans and a site visit, because thickness, size, embeds and access vary from job to job. You get a detailed written bid.

How thick should a dumpster pad be?

Thick enough for the loaded garbage truck's front axle, which is far more than a car slab. The engineer sets the thickness, and we make sure the pad extends to where the truck wheels sit.

Can you work while our docks stay in use?

Yes. We phase work dock by dock and schedule pours for nights or weekends so shipping keeps moving. Your receiving manager gets a written schedule showing which doors are closed and for how long.

Why does our truck well keep flooding?

Usually a clogged, undersized or poorly sloped drain, sometimes all three. Atlanta storms can drop a lot of rain in a short time, and a recessed dock collects it fast.

Do you coordinate with Georgia Power?

Yes. For transformer pads we follow the serving utility's published specs and schedule around their inspection and setting crews.

Do you handle the building floor too?

Yes. Our commercial slabs and floors work covers warehouse floors that meet the dock.
